Thanks for checking out the site...if only by accident.
My name is Dan and I'm a graduate from the University of British Columbia's School of Journalism with a focus in video journalism.
I'm currently the Social Media Officer for the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education.
Previously, I've had some amazing opportunities to work on documentary projects for PBS's Frontline/WORLD, CBC's Around the World and HDNet's Dan Rather Reports. You can find clips in the "Video" section.
These projects have taken me from the busy streets of Hong Kong to the desolate valleys of the Himalayas, covering topics ranging from water and food scarcity to the environmental rights of developing nations.
One of these projects was nominated for two Emmy Awards earlier this year.
I've been extremely lucky to work alongside some pretty incredible people on these projects, including many fellow UBC graduates, and I encourage you to check out their sites as well. (found on the right)

What is Kontekst Media?
Currently, it is an invitation to collaborate on multimedia productions of any kind.
In the future, Kontekst Media will be a co-operative media group focusing on the stories found between the lines of the front page news.
This project is still in its early stages and at this point I'm simply encouraging anyone who has an interesting story to tell and needs an extra set of hands, eyes and ears to drop me a line and see what sort of collaborations we can come up with.
