Thanks for checking out the site...if only by accident.

My name is Dan and I'm a graduate from the University of British Columbia's School of Journalism with a focus in video journalism.

I'm currently the Social Media Officer for the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education.

Previously, I've had some amazing opportunities to work on documentary projects for PBS's Frontline/WORLD, CBC's Around the World and HDNet's Dan Rather Reports. You can find clips in the "Video" section.

These projects have taken me from the busy streets of Hong Kong to the desolate valleys of the Himalayas, covering topics ranging from water and food scarcity to the environmental rights of developing nations.

I've been extremely lucky to work alongside some pretty incredible people on these projects, including many fellow UBC graduates, and I encourage you to check out their sites as well. (found on the right)

HDNet: Dan Rather Reports"Crack in the Ice" - worked with interview characters, set-up shooting dates and filmed additional footage for the episode. The episode detailed the issue of global warming and its effect on Arctic sovereignty."A Safe Place to Shoot" - filmed additional footage, wrote sections of the script and edited sections of the final piece. The episode looked at Vancouver's safe injection site, InSite, and other harm reducing programs in the city. PBS: Frontline/World"Digital Dumping Ground" - part of a group project investigating the global "e-waste" trade. Responsible for making contacts in China, scheduling and preparing interviews. What is Kontekst Media? Currently, it is an invitation to collaborate on multimedia productions of any kind. In the future, Kontekst Media will be a co-operative media group focusing on the stories found between the lines of the front page news.
